C2Life Foundation, is a non-profit organization, working to cultivate a healthier world through the nourishment of others.
We are seeding a path to good health and longevity by making good food accessible, especially to those who so often struggle to find real, healthy sustenance.
Since our launch in 2020, the Foundation has coordinated the donation of over 38,000 pounds of food and 31,000 meals to support more than 25 different food pantries, shelters and health organizations throughout a six-county area in western NC. Additionally, during the onset of COVID, we donated the use of commercial food packaging equipment into the Burke County Public Schools to assist in providing healthy meals to local students.
At the height of a global pandemic when we could no longer deny that personal health is paramount, we wanted to affect change through education, nutrition, and community support. In the fall of 2021, we launched a 9-week lifestyle medicine program, Food is Medicine-Community with the guidance of our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Brian Asbill of Ruckus Health. Our program partnerships have grown to include Burke Primary Care, Burke United Christian Ministries, Burke Health Network, Good Samaritan Clinic, and Roots.
We’re making the way to healthful lifestyles and there’s no stopping us. Go plants!

Kevin was drawn to the C2Life Foundation by the commitment to seed healthier communities and those who call them home. He is particularly impressed by C2Life's innovative approach to creating an ecosystem that invests in the health and education of those who need it most; in other words, creating a sustainable solution to impact positive change.
Leah Ferguson, Vice Chair

Sheri Watts
As the result of my husband’s recent experience with cancer, my family and I have started paying more attention to what we are eating, attempting to eat a more natural, healthy diet. C2Life Foundation is built on that foundation so it was a natural fit for me. It also allows me to use my financial & accounting skills to help an organization that is providing so much good to our community.
Alice Horton
I am a part of the C2Life mission because I believe that with the "right" food we can change lives. I believe that good healthy food should be a basic right and that plant-based food knowledge is necessary to change the trajectory of our current obesity epidemic that we currently face in this country.
6 in 10 adults in the United States suffer from chronic diseases, which are the leading cause of death and disability. This account’s for the lion’s share of this country’s $3.3 trillion annual health care costs.
But the world could be otherwise.
And we can help make it so, because we know from experience that a shift in nutrition affects physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing – and we are proving it through our Food is Medicine-Community program.
With the guidance of Ruckus Health, we gathered a diverse group of 17 people of various ages, races, socio-economic levels, health histories, who were battling diabetes, high cholesterol or hypertension and who were just sick and tired of being sick and tired. Participants received lifestyle education, coaching, and were provided with plant-based meals.
The results?
On average:
- Blood pressure dropped from Stage 1 Hypertension to normal.
- Waist circumference was reduced by 3 inches.
- 9.7 pounds were lost
But what speaks more than the numbers: the personal experience and testimonials of those participants who learned that a healthful lifestyle is medicine.
One participant said, “I’ve been on blood pressure medicine for over a year. I no longer need that.
I’ve been on arthritis medicine and anti-inflammatories for almost 5 years. I no longer need those. I haven’t needed Ibuprofen in 8 weeks. That’s the effect of this journey that really gets me.”
The next Food Is Medicine-Community Program is scheduled for May 19 - July 20.
Join us Thursday, May 12 , 2022 via Zoom from 5:30pm-6:30pm for more information.

Interested in switching to a plant-based diet? Come learn about C2Life's Food Is Medicine Program launching in February! Food Is Medicine is a medically-supervised lifestyle medicine program that provides education, plant-based nutrition and support to participants who have been diagnosed with a chronic disease and are looking to improve their overall health. This evidence based program allows participants the opportunity to learn about scientifically proven lifestyle changes that may help prevent and reduce the risk factors for obesity, type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and high blood pressure.
Our current healthcare system is broken. It is way too expensive, terribly inefficient and relatively ineffective, at least when it comes to treating the chronic diseases that are INCREASING in prevalence: diabetes, hypertension, obesity, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular disease, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, etc. Lifestyle is both the cause and the cure of our current medical dilemma. And optimal nutrition, focused on whole, plant-based foods, is the cornerstone health habit that can prevent, cure and even reverse these chronic medical conditions. Come learn how lifestyle medicine works and how you can incorporate lifestyle behaviors into your daily routine so that you can live longer AND better!
